Intelligent Resolution technology

MANILA, Philippines - With the Intelligent Resolution technology, three areas – outlines, detailed texture areas, and soft gradation – are examined and automatically detected to enhance any degradation created during the digital zoom process or in high-sensitivity shooting.

Intelligent Resolution technology includes Intelligent Zoom, which virtually extends the optical zoom ratio to its 1.3x equivalent while maintaining picture quality.

Intelligent Resolution makes it possible to produce 1920 x 1080 still images from a 1280 x 720 HD movie. A Wind Cut function is also available to block out most of the noise from background wind.

New-generation AVCHD Lite

AVCHD Lite enables almost double the recording time in HD-quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. The picture quality is greatly enhanced thanks to Intelligent Resolution technology.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode

Panasonic incorporated the Intelligent Auto mode in pursuit of the ultimate ease of operation and the reduction of mis-shots. In iA mode the camera does all the work, leaving users free to compose shots and capture moments. Just press, aim, and shoot. iA mode is also available in movie recording mode.

The new Happy Mode, a color mode option in iA mode, optimizes color, saturation, and brightness to make both photo and movie more vivid and true to the color of the scene you memorized.

POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer)

Panasonic’s critically acclaimed MEGA O.I.S. has evolved into the POWER O.I.S. with up to twice the shake-suppression capability.

The hand-shake component, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed, is recognized as a low-frequency vibration, for which the new POWER O.I.S. is particularly effective.

This greatly improves the quality of shots taken at night or indoors where a flash cannot be used, or where the photographer doesn’t want to use a flash because it would spoil the mood.

High-performance Venus Engine IV

The image-processing LSI, Venus Engine IV, features advanced signal-processing technology for rendering high-quality images.

Venus Engine IV supports a super-fast response time – on the order of a shutter release time lag of as short as 0.006 second, sonic-speed AF (auto focus) that lets you lock on the subject in as short as 0.33 second, and the short startup time of 0.96 second.

The Venus Engine IV also supports a High-Sensitivity mode that lets users record at a setting of up to ISO 6400. The high-performance engine is also superior in its energy efficiency; you can shoot up to 310 photos per charge.

Lumix DC lens

The high-quality Lumix DC lens features folded optics to secure the toughness of the lens unit.

Comprising up to 11 elements and a prism unit in 10 groups, including an ED lens and four aspherical lenses with seven aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit renders high-resolution images corner to corner even with the folded optics.

In 3MP resolution mode, the Extra Optical Zoom function provides additional magnification, extending the zoom power to up to 10.5x.

Intelligent LCD

The Intelligent LCD function detects the light condition and automatically boosts the LCD backlighting when shooting outdoors in bright sunshine, and adjusts the frame rate when shooting in low-lit situations.

The High-Angle Mode keeps the screen easy to view when the camera is held high, such as when shooting over a crowd. The newly adopted static sensor-type three-inch touch screen gives users an easy, intuitive control, thanks to a hybrid operation combined with the four major operation buttons.
