AOC unveils LED monitors

- Alma Buelva -

MANILA, Philippines - AOC announced last week the local availability of its e36 series of WLED (While Light Emitting Diode) monitors, which should appeal to consumers who are very particular about slim design, low power consumption and affordable prices.

LED monitors use far less electricity than conventional displays that’s why display manufacturers are now incorporating this technology into their products. The three new AOC WLED monitors claim to be so energy-efficient with power consumption (watt) rates from 15 percent to 28 percent only.

The new 21.5-inch e2236Vw uses only 25 percent of power compared with standard 22-inch LCD monitors in the market today, company executives said.

The smallest model in the series, the 16.9-inch e936Vw only consumes 15 watts of electricity and even has an eight-watt power saving mode. The premium model, the 22-inch Verfino has a 28-watt power consumption rating when on and consumes less than two watts on standby mode.

By using WLED technology, the new AOC monitors obtained very high contrast ratios of 1000000:1 for the V22 model and 2000000:1 for the e2236Vw and e936Vw models. Though very slim, the sides and back of the new models can accommodate an analog D-Sub RGB input and a digital HDMI port (HDCP compatible) and other connection options forUSBs and all standard signal sources.

The new WLED monitors also feature a 1.3 Megapixel webcam in addition to accompanying software, a microphone and two discreet in-built loudspeakers.

Worthy of note, too, is how all these new displays are completely mercury-free. Company officials present during the launch also said the new products have fulfilled the highest international environmental standards (RoHs, EPEAT Silver) and use 100 percent recycling pulp mold to achieve green carton for their packaging.
