Toshiba introduces the Portégé M900
MANILA, Philippines - Tricom, the exclusive distributor of Toshiba and Toshiba Singapore Pte Ltd., recently announced its new 13.3” ultra-portable, the Portégé M900.
Part of the new Signature Series, the Portégé M900 offers an optimal balance of size, weight and performance in a stylish, eye-catching textured finishing.
The Portégé M900 has everything it takes to make a big impression: it comes with a choice of four modern colors — signature brown, white, red and pink — that will appeal to the young and young-at-heart. It also offers a true tactile experience with the textured finishing not only on the chassis but also continuing on the inside.
“With the Signature series, we focused very much on an extraordinary design that stands out from the crowd as our customers will value our ultra-portable Portégé M900 as a very personal device,” said Wong Wai Meng, senior product marketing manager of Toshiba’s Computer Systems Division.
“With the Portégé M900, we offer consumers a fully featured yet ultra-portable notebook PC at a very attractive price point,” Wong added.
Despite being a fully featured performance machine, from its unique design to the compact and lightweight form factor, every aspect of the Portégé M900 has been crafted with portability in mind. A weight starting from 2.15 kg, basic measurements of 317 mm x 230.6 mm and a height of 29.5 mm at the front and 38.2 mm at the back ensure high mobility.
To protect valuable data in the HDD, the Portégé M900 comes with hard drive protection, thanks to a built-in 3D motion sensor that dynamically monitors free-falls, shock and vibration, and rapidly prepares the drive head for impact.
A Fingerprint Security Suite secures data, preventing unauthorized access.
Though the Portégé M900 comes in a compact form factor, Toshiba has not compromised on usability. The multi-touch pad with gesture support provides an innovative alternative to conventional scrolling and buttons. It features pinch gesture to zoom in or out, ChiralMotion Scrolling for smooth scrolling, and momentum motion for smooth, fast, trackball-like cursor motion. ChiralRotate facilitates rotation of images and graphics.
Toshiba ConfigFree simplifies network configuration and online access while the PC Health Monitor gives a quick overview of the essential components of the laptop’s health, like temperature and battery status. The software also alerts the user with pre-failure conditions via a specific graphical user interface.
Eight feather touch buttons give direct access to audio/video functions and also to Toshiba’s Eco utility, which makes reduction of power consumption easy and visible.
Powered by an Intel Centrino2 processor technology, including Intel Core2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) and 2048MB system memory, it is able to tackle most computing tasks.
For a superior graphics experience, the Portégé M900 incorporates ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 up to 1278MB total available graphics (ext 512MB VRAM), and a 13.3-inch, high-definition Clear SuperView display and a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and a luminance of 250 NITs.
To connect with other devices, the Portégé M900 provides various interfaces: Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, a five-in-one card reader, HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface), two USB 2.0 ports and an additional eSATA/USB combo port which supports Sleep-and-Charge to charge devices via USB even while the laptop is switched off.
The Portégé M900 also offers a HD Web camera and supports Toshiba’s SmartFace face recognition software that lets the user log on with his face. For online access, the Portégé M900 has wireless LAN and Gigabit LAN onboard.
