Convergys receives 2 PEZA awards

MANILA, Philippines - Convergys was recognized as the Outstanding Employer and Outstanding Exporter in the Large Enterprise Category by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority. 

The awards were announced during the PEZA Investors’ Appreciation Day held in Manila recently.

Since the launch of the awards, PEZA has recognized Convergys six times, with three wins each in the categories of Outstanding Employer and Outstanding Exporter.

This year marks the third year in a row that Convergys has been named an Outstanding Exporter.

The PEZA Outstanding Employer Award recognizes organizations that generate the most jobs, highly regard the welfare of their workers, and maintain harmony between workforce and management.

The Outstanding Exporter Award is given to a company that has shown outstanding performance in exports in the area of total export value, total percentage growth and total net trade balance, and is a good corporate citizen with a strong commitment to the community.

“We are honored to have been recognized by PEZA once again as Outstanding Employer and Exporter,” said Marife Zamora, Convergys vice president and country manager.

“Since opening our first facility in the Philippines in 2003, it has been our goal to provide our employees with the skills and knowledge to foster a long-lasting, successful career with Convergys and provide excellent support to our clients’ customers. This recognition could not have been achieved without our dedicated employees and I share these awards with them,” she said.

Convergys was also recently recognized as BPO Employer of the Year at the 2009 International ICT Awards.

With just a single contact center facility in 2003, Convergys now employs some 16,000 employees in 12 facilities around the country — seven in Metro Manila, three in Cebu City, and one each in Bacolod City and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
