Globe backs ICT Awards
MANILA, Philippines - Globe supported the recently concluded Annual International ICT Awards-Philippines 2009 with Globe Business head Gil Genio presenting the BPO Employer of the Year award.
These prestigious awards recognize the top companies and outstanding individuals for their contributions in the information and communications technology industry.
They aim to further position the country as the world’s BPO destination of choice.
The awards were jointly organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines.
In his commentary during the awards, Genio said Globe, as part of the offshoring and outsourcing industry, does its share in helping business customers achieve their goals by continuously investing in infrastructure dedicated to the needs of the O&O industry.
“You have heard that the TGN-IA submarine cable system is now live, carrying traffic and helping in many ways to remove the fear of earthquakes. We continue to build domestic fiber networks. We are constantly growing our points of presence or nodes, now about 500 nationally. Whether we are talking about high bandwidth, fiber, ‘next wave cities,’ we will be there with you,” Genio said.
By doing these, Globe is also helping promote the country as a preferred destination for BPO through its Globe Business.
Globe Business provides wireless and wireline data and voice solutions relevant to the needs of various enterprises from diverse industries, including top corporations in the Philippines.
Genio also cited the importance of employees to the overall success of an organization as he presented the BPO Employer of the Year award to Convergys Philippines.
He said the winner of the award was selected for its outstanding leadership, creativity and commitment to the Filipino worker.
“Some key criteria for this award include leadership that is evident in all levels of the organization, strategic HR for effective employee retention, commitment to continuous improvement, involvement in CSR initiatives, and active support for Philippine ICT. In the competitive BPO sector being an employer of choice is paramount,” he said.
