Gateway launches new notebooks, desktop PC

MANILA, Philippines - Since its founding in 1985, Irvine, California-based Gateway Computers has been a technology pioneer, offering award-winning products and world-class service to customers worldwide.

Today, Gateway is a wholly owned subsidiary of Acer Inc., the world’s third-largest PC company. And now the brand with the black-and-white cow marking-inspired packaging has landed on Philippine shores with some pretty impressive notebook and desktop computers.

To blaze the trail of Gateway’s entry into the local market, they unveiled in a grand debut at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati City three revolutionary products: the UC7308i, the UC7811i, and the LT1001i, the newest netbook computers on the market today.

The UC7308i is powered by an Intel Dual Core T3400 (2.16GHz 1MB Cache, 667 FSB) processor, paired with 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a 250GB SATA hard drive, and uses the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD.

The UC7811i comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.4GHz, 2MB Cache, 800 FSB) processor, and 2GB of RAM, 320GB of storage, and has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 video card to handle not just multimedia but also processor-intensive gaming.

The UC7308i and UC7811i boast Ultra Bright WXGA 13.3-inch TFT LCD displays. Both have Super Multi DVD optical drives, four-in-one Multi-Card Reader, Bluetooth, 1.3-MP webcam, and Windows Vista Home Premium.

For the fast-growing netbook segment, Gateway offers the LT1001i, an affordable, easy-to-tote (lightweight at one kilogram) netbook that lets users enjoy most of laptop functionalities without the cost, weight and bulk.

It runs on an Intel Atom N270 (1.60GHz, 533MHz FSB, 512KB L2 cache) processor. Coupled with this very efficient and capable processor is the mobile Intel 945GSE Express chipset, plus up to 1GB of DDR2 533MHz of system memory.

The LT1000i has a spacious 160GB hard drive and a multi-in-one card reader. Its display is an 8.9-inch WSVGA UltraBright TFT LCD and it is also Wi-Fi-enabled (802.11b/g). Despite its compact size, its keyboard is a mere 11 percent smaller than a full-sized keyboard.

The third and most awe-inspiring notebook line from Gateway is the MD series. The MD2601i, with its inspiring and professional-looking form factor, is powered by AMD’s Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core ZM-82, while the MD7802i packs an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz, 3MB, 1066 FSB) processor.

Going hand in hand with these powerful processors are the Intel PM45 and AMD M730G chipsets for the MD2601 and MD7802 notebooks, respectively.

The two are ramped up with a whopping 3GB of DDR2 667 RAM, a monstrous 500GB of storage space, and match these awesome specs with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 video card with 512 MB of dedicated graphics processing power and up to 1792 MB of shared memory for optimum performance.

Both boast of 15.6 inches of High-Definition UltraBright TFT LCD display for a spectacular viewing experience. They also boast Super Multi DVD drives, a super usable five-in-one Multi- Card Reader, Bluetooth functionality, and a 1.3-MP webcam.

These Gateway laptops also have built-in Intel WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/Draft N connectivity and come bundled with Windows Vista Home Premium.

On the desktop computer side, Gateway introduced the slim, sleek yet power-packed ZX2300W all-in-one (AiO) personal computer.

The space-saving yet elegant lines of the ZX2300W blend functionality fit for a hardcore gamer with pleasing aesthetics — then couples these with an armada of multimedia hardware that turns Internet surfing and video-viewing into fully immersive experiences.

The entire box measures just 44 x 54 x 30 cm and comes with side-mounted speakers and a keyboard that stows neatly under the monitor to conserve desktop space.

To enhance the gaming and multimedia experience, the Gateway ZX2300W is powered by an AMD Athlon processor 2650e and AMD’s RS690 + SB600 chipset.

It also has up to 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, plus a 160GB SATA hard disk drive, coupled with optical drive options of either a Super Multi optical disk drive or a DVD-ROM drive.

The Gateway ZX2300W comes with an ATI Radeon X1200 graphics solution that goes hand-in-hand with an integrated 2.2 hi-fi audio system. It also has 10/100 Ethernet network capability and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connectivity.

The ZX2300W has a multitude of ports in its arsenal, starting with a universal service bus (USB) port, high-definition headphone and microphone jacks, and an MP3 line-in jack on the side, with an additional four USB ports to the rear. It also features a Multi-Card Reader that supports most popular memory cards.

The ZX2300W comes with an Ethernet (RJ-45) port as well as a built-in VGA webcam and microphone for video chatting and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls using Skype and similar applications.

Another distinct feature of the Gateway ZX2300W is a unique Integrated Touch Strip that allows users to launch their favorite music, videos and digital photographs and access Internet video applications with one easy touch of a button.
