Stradcom taps NetX as security consultant

Stradcom Corp. Inc., the information technology provider of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), recently tapped NetX Technology Solutions Inc. for an information security consultancy and audit service agreement in preparation for Stradcom’s ISO/IEC certification.

The agreement, according to Stradcom officials, would move the company ahead to its compliance with LTO’s latest supplier requirements to secure an ISO 9001 certification.

In a statement, Stradcom president Cezar Quiambao, said securing the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification is an indication of Stradcom’s firm commitment to best global practices in information security and risk management, thus supporting the LTO’s desire to focus on the total satisfaction of its clients and conforming to the policy of quality management system.

Quiambao said the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standard covers security policy, systems access control, computer and operations management, systems development and maintenance, physical and environment security, compliance, personnel security, security organization, asset classification and control, and business continuity management.

As the project proponent of the LTO IT project, Stradcom, according to Quiambao, has had a better understanding of the project since its nationwide rollout in 2001.

With its present IT security infrastructure, Stradcom is capable of identifying, modifying, and creating additional security policies and procedures that would set up a strict security system compliant with the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standard.

Quiambao said Stradcom chose NetX as its partner due to its track record in the IT security systems field.

NetX services a multinational client base that includes the Philippine government, Manila Water, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Asian Development Bank, Citibank, BPI, Export Bank, Globe Telecom, Smart Communications, Digitel, ePLDT, San Miguel, Honda, and Petron.
