EYP (http://www.eyp.ph/), the electronic yellow pages of Directories Philippines Corp. (DPC), vows to further improve the search experience of its online directory users on the heels of its recent citation as Best Website for the Community and Portal category at the 9th Philippine Web Awards.
The Philippine Web Awards is an annual competition that recognizes the best of the best Filipino websites in specific categories. Aside from community and portal sites, the 12 other categories considered last year included personal websites, lifestyle and leisure, arts and portfolio, banking and finance, blogs, celebrities and personalities.
Nominees were screened by users through SMS and online voting but the final winners were decided by a panel of foreign and local Internet professionals. EYP itself competed with 11 other entries in the Community and Portal category.
Doji Lopez, DPC consultant for new media services, said the recognition further boosts EYPs positioning as a premier provider of relevant information and quality service.
"Recognition by peers is always an important endorsement," Lopez said. "The award helps establish EYPs credibility to both buyers and sellers. It tells advertisers who want to be found by their target clients that the EYP is their best choice for advertising. Buyers, on the hand, are assured of the quality of the information they get from the EYP website."
EYP remains committed to harness the information it has to improve usability and to maintain a high level of user satisfaction in their search experience, Lopez said. Toward this end, a whole slew of site changes and feature enhancements are in the pipeline this year.
Ready for launch is the EYP Widget, designed to make directory searches more convenient for active buyers of goods and services.
The EYP Widget comes in the form of a small search box that may be installed or downloaded in ones computer for easy access anytime.
In addition, the EYP site will soon sport a new look and introduce more functionalities for both consumers and business users.
The EYP database currently covers over 200,000 unique companies across 2,300 different categories nationwide.
The EYP website tracks more than 95,000 visitors every month. Its records also show that EYP receives as many as 28,000 sales inquiries on various products and services from customers every month.
"As we further refine our users search experience and enrich our content, we are confident that EYP will be the search engine of choice for anyone looking for goods and services in the Philippines," Lopez said.
