Online courses gain headway in Ateneo Graduate School

The Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB) has launched its second year of implementing online methodology as a key strategy in making the MBA program available to foreign and local students who are workplace-based and are generally mobile.

At present, 19 courses are now conducted online, servicing some 500 students. 

The business school has strengthened its online capabilities by purchasing the latest IT infrastructure appropriate for online course delivery and the corresponding course management software from WebCT.

The AGSB is regularly training its faculty to use WebCT and to enhance their facilitation skills in doing online classes. 

Trainings include those facilitated by BEENET of Hong Kong, the main distributor and implementor of WebCT for Southeast Asia, and by experts in online methodology.

Results of these trainings have become evident in the outstanding assessments by students of the faculty members conducting the online courses.

The AGSB has also sent its administrators to attend the WebCT Conference in San Francisco, California and to observe the backroom support of online classes at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Regis University is AGSB’s partner for the delivery of the Ateneo-Regis MBA Executive Degree Program geared toward business professionals who can tackle courses in an accelerated, intensive and hands-on fashion through a highly interactive methodology.

The AGSB was a recipient of the Thomas R. Kennedy Award for Mission Extension from the university, which recognized it for the development and delivery of the innovative program.

The AGSB is continuously building its capability with the necessary infrastructure and training to be excellent in online methodology.

It previously topped an evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education of schools offering graduate programs in Education, Public Administration and Business Education. 

The school scored a 4.6 out of a total 5.0 for meeting international standards of quality graduate programs.
