HP Phils. center attains CMMi Level 3

HP Global Delivery Philippines Center (GDPC), the IT applications and infrastruc-ture delivery arm of HP Philippines, was recently awarded a high maturity level for organizational practices in software, systems engineering and large-scale systems inte-gration.

After two years of preparations which involved pilot projects and extensive internal training, the GDPC was endowed with a Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMi) Level 3 certification by an independent assessment team from LPMG.

"This recognition for the Philippines Center enriches the HP strategy to bring superior delivery performance and world-class cost structures to our customers. And subsequently, our Philippines Center will demonstrate to customers the very best of customer service, backed by the knowledge that we are CMMi Level 3-certified. We learned a lot along the way, so it’s more than the certification itself," said HP Philippines’ application services director Paul Martin.

The culmination of the preparations was a two-week assessment period wherein three large application and integration projects were selected to be audited.

During this time, over 4800 data points were collected through comprehensive inter-views, tally sheets, document and online process library reviews.

HP GDPC, which has doubled in size over the past two years, was evaluated on all manage-ment levels to ensure that the 130-strong workforce involved in the projects demonstrated

The P GDPC presence ensures that the level of reliability and dependability of projects are maintained, to enable a fast go-to-market implementation. "The reason that our customers trust us is that we constantly support a better ROI (return of investment) for businesses. They want to know that a peso spent will yield more than a peso in return," adds Martin. "We do things right again and again because we’ve improved the way we do our work. And we’re been assessed to be in the highest echelon when it comes to using metrics to drive customer satisfaction. When we do our job right, and do it the first time, everybody wins – customers, shareholders and employers."

With its expanding workforce and capabilities, the site would soon be moving to a new facility in the Ortigas area which would be dedicated solely to the HP GDPC. Capable of accommodating around 150 to 200 employees, the center would be tasked to handle the applications outsourcing (AO) and business process outsourcing (BPO) needs of multinational companies in the Philippines.
