Seagate Technology, the worlds leading hard drive supplier, recently launched the worlds family of SFF (small form factor) 2.5-inch enterprise disc drives the Savvio disc drive which is specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of big business.
Savvio disc drives will provide space-constrained Fortune 2000 data centers with higher IOPS (I/O per second) performance in small form factor systems with the highest levels of reliability.
Savvio disc drives are 70 percent smaller than current 3.5-inch drives and consume 40 percent less power.
The first two Savvio drives will be 36GB and 73GB and available with Serial SCSI (SAS), 2-Gbit Fiber Channel, or Ultra320 SCSI interfaces.
In addition to its fast 10,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) spin speed, the Savvio disc drive has an impressive reliability of 1.4 million hours Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF), a level never before seen in a 10K rpm
