The Mondex "e-campus" smart card, a breakthrough application developed by Nextstage Inc. and Mondex Phils. Inc., will soon be available in other Asian markets.
"There is tremendous interest throughout the region in this unique e-campus application. It may only be a short while until students in other parts of Asia will enjoy and benefit from this great e-commerce innovation which Filipino students have been using for two years now," said Shuan Ghaidan, vice president of Mondex Asia.
According to Ghaidan, several schools in the Asia-Pacific are currently readying and finalizing plans for the adoption of the Mondex e-campus smart card application in their respective school systems, and are working in close collaboration with its developers to tailor-fit the smart card features to their specific needs.
"We are very excited at the prospect of a wide adoption in Asia of the Mondex e-campus application, which we pioneered here in the Philippines. And we look forward to great opportunities for enhancing the technology further as it gets rolled out in the region," said Benjie Fernandez, president and CEO of Mondex Phils. Inc.
The breakthrough e-campus application, known as the Mondex Smart Card-Based School System (SCBSS), is an information tool for a schools faculty, staff and students and a management information system for the school administration.
Its greatest innovation is in the area of registration, allowing students to conveniently enroll and sign up for classes online with the use of their Mondex cards.
The SCBSS also establishes a host of sub-systems for various administrative and office requirements, including faculty load generation, report card generation, student grades banking, property and supplies inventory, and library lending.
The SCBSS allows students to use their Mondex e-campus cards as an electronic ID for access to school premises and as an electronic purse or e-purse that can be loaded with monetary values at any time and used for various payment transactions within the campus.
With the Mondex e-campus card, students can pay for their food purchases at the canteen, overdue charges at the library, photocopying services and purchase of school supplies with utmost convenience. As electronic cash, the Mondex card gives students a better handle on their finances, eliminating the need for carrying bills and coins.
Fernandez shared these exciting developments at a recent seminar on smart card technology entitled "New Approaches in Managing Your School: A Smart Card Solution."
