WSA develops new services

Wireless Services Asia Inc. (WSA), a pioneer of local movie value-added services, has developed a new library of polyphonic and Multimedia Messaging System (MMS) images for Globe Telecom.
The emergence of polyphonic tones is considered as the next step in mobile ring tone technology. This development allows users to get ring tones that carry more than one sound channel. With the new polyphonic format, ring tones can be created with the use of blending and harmonics, thus creating a more attractive sound.
MMS evolved from its popular predecessor, the Short Messaging Service (SMS). MMS enables the user to send messages that contain text, color images and sound.
MMS color images can carry a wide array of colors with a pixel ratio of 160 by 120. MMS is designed to handle multimedia objects over 2G and 3G networks via a GPRS link which paves the way for a faster transfer rate of messages.
Rainer Leinonen, chief operating officer of WSA, said, "WSA is ready for these new developments in mobile technology. When the new mobile polyphonic-MMS-enabled mobile phones arrive, count on WSA to be at the forefront as a major content provider for Globe subscribers."
WSA acts as an application and content developer for GSM operators both here and abroad. It has business offices in Manila, Singapore and Helsinki, Finland, and provides services to 10 countries.
