PacNet invests on network infra for better service

The country’s leading and only regional Internet solutions provider Pacific Internet (PacNet) has invested further in network infrastructure to improve its Internet services throughout the country.

This investment and expansion program includes the installation of an M20 Internet backbone router from California-based Juniper Networks Inc., a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure systems deployed in over 500 service providers and carrier networks worldwide.

The addition of the Juniper Networks infrastructure positions PacNet as one of the leading and best-equipped ISPs, offering reliable high-speed IP services.

The Juniper Networks M-Series router will enable PacNet to offer new smart IP services featuring premium accessibility and value-added applications, including Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Voice over IP (VoIP), and video on demand (VOD0.

This means quicker delivery and more advanced Internet access services to PacNet’s clients, according to Wilkin Acedera, PactNet assistant vice president for network operations and engineering group.

"The proven Internet Processor II ASIC and JUNOS Internet software deliver rich packet processing features, such as filtering, sampling, and rate limiting without impacting performance, thus enabling multiple value-added services to be offered seam-lessly," Acedera explained.

The infrastructure upgrade is also seen to put PacNet farther ahead in the local ISP industry, particularly in extending its capability to offer multiple, concurrent IP services to customers. These include high-performance peering services and data center access.

Both Pacific Internet and Juniper Networks are leaders in their respective fields.

Pacific Internet Ltd. is the leading and most experienced regional Internet solutions provider (ISP) in Asia offering award-winning Internet solutions. It was voted Best ISP in Asia for three consecutive years (1999, 2000, 2001). In the Philippines, Pacific Internet Philippines serves a large network of both dial-up and corporate leased line customers. Its phenomenal growth in the past five years is mainly attributed to its ability to completely deliver on all Internet requirements of both consumer and corporate subscribers.

On the other hand, Juniper Networks is a leading provider of purpose-built systems that meet the scalability, performance, density and compatibility requirements of rapidly evolving, optically-enabled IP networks.
