DTI seminar on e-services outsourcing set

-
The government is eyeing huge foreign investments and dollar revenues from the local IT industry’s new emerging profit center – e-services outsourcing.

This stems from the country’s low labor cost, vast pool of English-speaking IT professionals, fast development of IT and telecommunications infrastructure, and easy access to new technologies.

These factors give local IT firms superior advantage in offering foreign-based global companies such outsourced services as call center and data center operations, among others.

This means that foreign companies can outsource such e-services to a Philippine-based IT firm, which can answer customer inquiries, conduct surveys and provide related services to their clients anywhere in the world.

To promote the country’s IT outsourcing potential and take advantage of the global demand for this new business, the Department of Trade and Industry through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions is staging the "E-Services Philippine Outsourcing Seminar" on Feb. 7-9 at the World Trade Center Manila.

Organized by Fiera de Manila Inc., the seminar will roll out the "fundamentals" in handling an IT offshore outsourced project. It will combine the basic approaches, the best existing practices in the industry, lessons learned from case studies, and direct interaction with outsourcing experts.

The seminar is designed for e-business/e-commerce professionals, IS/IT managers, project managers, chief information officers, IT entrepreneurs, educators, government personnel, policy-makers, and incubators, start-ups and venture capital firms.

Seminar participants will learn about global developments in the outsourcing business, the basics of IT outsourcing and essential guides, the various stages of IT project management, fundamental knowledge in making request for proposal, the risks and rewards of outsourcing, cross-cultural issues, and technical support, among others.

Outsourcing e-services requirements also allow organizations to focus on their core competencies, cut on costs and enhance operating efficiencies, thus increasing the returns on their investments and widening their access to world-class skills.

Inquiries can be addressed to Fiera de Manila (tel. nos. 896-0639, 899-6893 and 896-0636, fax no. 890-2101 and 896-0637, e-mail address [email protected] or at website http://www.fmi.com.ph or http://www.e-servicesphils.com).
