A personal digital organizer thats also a pocket PC. A wristwatch thats also a digital camera.
The latest secure server appliance from eSoft takes the value-plus characteristics of such products to revolutionize the way we access the Internet.
sSofts InstaRak is a secure server appliance designed to meet the needs of Internet service providers (ISPs) and their customers. This one-of-a-kind tool provides, among other things, a secure end-to-end solution for Web, DNS and e-mail services for multiple domains.
"We are constantly innovating our services to provide cutting-edge solutions to our customers," said Nimfa Mariano, country manager of Nera Phils. "We are pleased to be the master distributor of eSofts products in the Philippines. eSofts InstaRak is one of the products we will be launching to better serve our customers."
eSoft, according to its president and CEO, Jeff Finn, "is continually looking for new technologies which will help our customers increase their revenues while reducing their cost of ownership and operations through ease of use and reliability."
Finn said eSofts InstaRak offers service providers access to a secure server appliance while addressing known hosting requirements for Web, e-mail and DNS services.
To come up with InstaRak, eSoft took its experience in Internet appliances and security and applied it to the server market. Traditional firewall technologies cannot effectively prevent some common types of server attacks, including buffer overflows and server misconfigurations. To solve this problem, eSoft partnered with Argus Systems to protect InstaRak from application server vulnerabilities.
While InstaRak protects servers from virtually all attacks, eSoft said competitors are left only to deliver patches as quickly as possible, which can take weeks, leaving customers exposed to a complete system takeover.
"Intrusion prevention" is achieved through the integration of the Argus PitBull software. This is transparent to the customer so he does not need to learn how to configure or use the product. A lot of engineering work has been done to integrate PitBull seamlessly into InstaRak.
InstaRak also solves the problem of complicated hosting. While other manufacturers like to say "plug-and-play," InstaRak lives up to the claim. Setup can be completed in a matter of minutes using its intuitive, browserbased interface. Once installed, maintenance is a breeze.
