3Com expands network products

-
Consistent with its pioneering efforts to deliver simplicity and reliability in Ethernet switching, 3Com has announced new Ethernet switches and network management products.

These are the SuperStack 3 Switch 4005, an application-aware, stackable, wirespeed 10/100 Fast Ethernet switch; the SuperStack 3 Switch 4300, a 48-port, high-density 10/100 Ethernet switch; and the Switch 4005, a 10/100/100 Ethernet modular Layer 3 switch.

3Com’s latest version of network management software adds an extra level of management support for all new switches that enable intuitive setup and operation.

"3Com’s long-standing strength is in using our engineering and ASIC expertise to take the complexity out of new technologies to dramatically simplify the user experience and change the price/performance equation for our customers," said Karen Oddey, vice president for marketing and business strategy of 3Com’s Business Networking Co.

"And, in collaboration with our worldwide channel partners, 3Com delivers more value so that the worldwide business market can benefit from fast-performing switched Ethernet. The company remains committed to deliver the most affordable, simple-to-use networking solutions to our business customers," she added.

Changes in the current business climate have increased demands on businesses to use the network for e-business and Internet applications; bring partners, suppliers and customers deeper into their organizations through increased access without losing control of the processes and security; and increase their flexibility by lowering cost structures to weather cyclical changes in market demand and supply.

"Many organizations are looking for cost-effective networking solutions that don’t compromise on features," said Mark Fabbi, vice president of the Gartner Group.

"Bandwidth scalability, simple traffic prioritization, support for new applications such as voice and video are all critical features that will allow the network to grow with new business demands," he said.
