STI recently awarded a contract to Yapster e-Learning Inc. to install and implement an e-learning system within its education and training network. This is in line with STI’s commitment to deliver quality education in information and communications technologies.
STI has evolved to be the largest computer education system in the country with over 120 schools here and abroad. With the inclusion of an e-learning curriculum, STI extends its reach in fulfillment of its promise to provide as many Filipinos as possible with quality computer education, making each graduate at par with the best in the world.
Yapster e-Learning, the premier provider of Web-based training, will be installing an e-learning system that will allow STI to manage and monitor its learners’ use of Web-based courses. STI and Yapster e-Learning are currently preparing for the introduction of this innovative program in the coming semester.
"We have evaluated several e-learning providers and have found Yapster e-Learning’s curriculum to be the most extensive and up-to-date," Noel Sauz, STI Links’ general manager and STI’s VP for technical services, said. "In addition, we are pleased to work with a company that shares our vision to make education available to as many as possible, anywhere and anytime."
The newly implemented e-learning curriculum will initially include International Computer Driving License (ICDL) courses for 10,000 users. The ICDL allows users to be confident in operating a personal computer (PC).
Soon a series of certification preparation training curriculum – Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers, Lotus Notes Developers, Oracle Certified DBA, Novel CNE, CISCO CCNA, CCNP, IBM, CIW and Comptia – and other IT courses like Java, Unix and Web Development will be added. Business courses will also be incorporated into the e-learning program to ensure well-rounded graduates.
Yapster e-Learning launched its products and services last September, through 2StudyIT.com, which now has a library of over 1,000 business and IT courses.
"In the next six months, we will add specialized courses such as languages and degrees that will bring our library to 1,500 courses," Yapster e-Learning’s CEO Arlene Yap promised.
Yapster e-Learning is also a VUE and Sylvan Prometric partner, allowing it to give internationally accredited IT exams. "We are committed to providing Filipinos every opportunity to become globally competitive in the IT world, " Yap added.
