Inventors mark their week in Ilocos
MANILA, Philippines — The Filipino Inventors Society Producers Cooperative (FISPC) is holding a grand celebration of the 2018 National Inventors Week (NIW) in Batac, Ilocos Norte this week.
Francisco Pagayon, FISPC president and CEO, said that the 2018 NIW celebration from Nov. 20 to 23 coincides with the 75th anniversary or Diamond Jubilee of the Filipino Inventors Society.
“Our inventors have dedicated themselves to creating innovative and customizable inventions. Their self-confidence, vision, wisdom, motivation and delivery skills bring the best ideas to their fullest reality,” Pagayon said. “We in the FISPC give due honors to local Filipino inventors on this special day.”
The FISPC is closely supported by the Department of Science and Technology in holding inventors’ week in Batac, Ilocos Norte with DOST Region 1 director Armand Ganal leading the effort to stage the four-day event at the Teatro Ilocandia in Batac City.
Other partners to ensure NIW success are the Technology Application Institute, Mariano Marcos State University, provincial government of Ilocos Norte and Batac.
The event will feature and highlight technology and invention exhibits, training and workshop on entrepreneurship and financial management, training on scientific writing. The activities are mandated under Presidential Proclamation No. 285 of 1993 which encourages them to showcase unique and marketable inventions of Filipinos for Filipinos.
DOST- Ilocos Norte director Joven Viernes said the agency expects some 50 exhibitors to present their locally invented products.
Science Secretary Fortunato dela Peña describes inventors’ week as “an earnest effort to help our Inventrepinoys carve and push sustainable growth and prosperity.”
