What are FGFs and their role in healing the human body?

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Much has been said about the human body’s own healing mechanism, but it is mostly attributed to proteins in the food people eat and not to what makes these nutrients work along that line.

The intriguing but largely unanswered or overlooked question is what drives the healing process or what form of intelligence makes it happen.

The question persists as people come to find that all a young and normal body needs are the right nutrients and the appropriate condition to repair, rehabilitate and keep itself rejuvenated.

In the same vein is how the process of cell renewal and rejuvenation can make the sick recover from illnesses and even from a terminal condition. People simply refer to this phenomenon as the miracle or mystery of life, and the beauty of creation.

However, the body’s healing process does not go on forever as people age and their physiologies lose their ability to stay young, indicating that the elements behind the self-repair mechanism get depleted.

Such elements, now coming to be known as the fibroblast growth factors, or FGFs, are finally getting the attention they deserve.

So what really is FGF and what does it do to keep the body young and heal the physical ailments that come along the way in a lifetime?

“FGFs act on stem cells, or the undifferentiated biological cells in the body, and differentiate them into specialized cells to form into a tissue to become part of a particular organ or system. The great wonder about the FGF is how it decides on what tissues the cells will form based on what the body urgently needs,” said Dr. Arle Imperio of health and wellness firm Forever Rich Philippines Inc. (FRPI), the exclusive national distributor of American breakthrough product Laminine.

“Composed largely of FGFs, Laminine is a functional food supplement derived from natural sources and processes (freeze dry) to preserve the integrity and potency of its ingredients that act on the human body’s stem cells,” Imperio said.

“The FGFs in Laminine boost the body’s repair system through cell differentiation and multiplication where these are most needed. The miracle is in how the FGFs prioritize which parts of the human anatomy require urgent regenerative action to keep it in homeostasis, or the state of balance needed for man’s physiological components to work in harmony with each other so as to keep him in good overall health,” he added.

In Asia, Laminine’s market expansion is being led by FRPI, which has begun establishing offices in Hong Kong and Singapore and, soon, in other neighboring countries.
