The first phase of Gardenia’s feeding program benefited thousands of public school students. The program aims to introduce young students to the importance of proper nutrition and the habit of eating a well-balanced breakfast in order to perform sound in school.
“Gardenia has always been prioritizing helping organizations catering to poor and impoverished school children in an aim to help curb hunger and malnutrition, and educate and mold them to be responsible and productive citizens of the country,†says Jun Umali, president and general manager of Gardenia.
“And of course, while learning, children have to be adequately fed so they can absorb lessons better. They are also more attentive and active in class when they are not hungry,†Umali adds.
This 2013, Gardenia will continue to extend nutritional assistance to help improve the health status of the participating students. It will do this to selected public elementary schools in the Calabarzon region and other areas as well, with the goal of bringing nutrition closer to less fortunate children.
