Novartis Eye Caravan on tour again
MANILA, Philippines - Novartis Healthcare Philippines, in partnership with the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO), is giving away free eye checkup on all weekends of May through the Novartis Eye Caravan, which is touring different Mercury Drug outlets in the metropolis.
Accredited PAO doctors will simultaneously give free Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) screening and free eye checkups on dry eyes.
The Eye Caravan, which kicked off last February, is resuming its activities as Novartis and PAO continue their advocacy to promote good eye health for Filipinos.
Early detection of dry eyes is vital so the patient can prevent further damage, which may eventually lead to blindness. The eyes are very sensitive when exposed to the sun, wind, and even TV and computer monitors.
These factors lead to dryness of the eyes that result in irritation, eyestrain and blurring of vision. The common signs of dry eyes are redness, itching and burning of the eyes.
AMD, on the other hand, is one of the common causes of severe vision loss experienced by people aged 60 and above. It is a chronic eye disease that occurs among people aged 60 and up. The most common symptom of this condition is blurred vision.
Aside from giving free screening and checkups, the Novartis Eye Caravan is giving away free samples of Genteal eye drops and Vitalux Plus that are both essential for healthier eyes.
Genteal, which contains Gen Aqua, gives much-needed hydration for dry eyes as it protects the eye from the damaging effects of conventional preservatives.
Vitalux Plus, an oral medicine for the eyes, contains vitamins and minerals which are essential to keep the eye healthy and protects it from everyday irritant from the environment.
Genteal and Vitalux Plus are both manufactured by Novartis Healthcare Philippines and are available in Mercury Drug outlets and other leading drugstores nationwide.
