Batangas Gov. and multi-awarded actress Vilma Santos-Recto believes that drinking milk is an important part of proper nutrition.
This is why she is a staunch supporter of Bear Brand’s “Laki sa Gatas” — a milk education campaign that aims to promote the nutritional importance of milk.
Santos-Recto knows that milk is very essential to the health of children during their growing-up years.
She says, “Every time I promote Bear Brand, I convince mothers to get their kids back to the milk-drinking habit. I truly believe in milk education.”
She recalls that when she was still a kid, her parents trained her to drink milk. “During our grade school days, we only had pan de sal with cheese and a glass of Bear Brand as baon.”
Bear Brand helps in meeting the daily nutritional requirements of kids. Two glasses of Bear Brand can be an excellent source of various vitamins and nutrients such as vitamins A and B (riboflavin), protein, and found in different kinds of food.
Bear Brand is also a good source of calcium for strong bones and teeth which children need to grow into healthy and strong adults.
Bear Brand aids the body as well in preventing certain diseases because it has antioxidants — vitamin C, iron, and zinc — that inhibit cell damage and oxidation.
Vitamin C helps in forming a protein called collagen that gives skin strength and resilience, while zinc, an essential mineral for proper nutrition, supports a healthy immune system, aids vision, and helps in faster healing of wounds.
Iron is in-charge of the transportation of oxygen in the blood. It is also necessary in energy metabolism, cognitive development, and immune function.
Santos-Recto says milk drinking should be made a habit, especially for kids, to optimize their growth and development.
“Nurture your children with not just one, but two glasses of milk every day,” she advises parents.
