Some 310 junior and senior managers of St. Luke’s Medical Center are taking part in management courses at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) as part of the medical center’s goals to be one of the world’s best hospitals in terms of the delivery of quality healthcare.
The managers are taking part in either the Management Development Program or the Basic Management Program.
Both programs are meant to equip the participants with tools to effectively manage their units, develop them as effective process managers capable of analyzing situations, improving systems and implementing projects, and strengthen their problem solving and decision-making skills to help achieve organizational goals.
A total of 45 executives and medical heads of the various institutes, departments and centers were part of the first batch of the Management Development Program for Healthcare Service Providers. “St. Luke’s Medical Center is way ahead in terms of equipment and well-trained medical experts,” said Jose Ledesma, St. Luke’s president and CEO, during the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the two institutions.
“These management training programs are what our managers need so that they will be able to help us attain our goal to become the best hospital when it comes to customer service,” he said.
Ledesma said there is a need for St. Luke’s managers to undergo such training programs because more often than not, these managers are promoted from the ranks and as such, they would benefit from the training to take on managerial tasks and to supervise their staff.
“We will not spare a single centavo to achieve our goal as over 300 managers stand to benefit from this training program,” he said.
