UERM sets pediatrics post-grad course

The University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center Department of Pediatrics will hold its 26th postgraduate course designed for pediatricians, family physicians, general practitioners, residents and nurses on Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila, with Dr. Milagros Bautista as the course director.
The theme will be "Breaking Barriers to Good Clinical Pediatric Practice," with the objective of providing the participants with solutions to medical and non-medical barriers to good pediatric practice.
Topics will include "Coping with Evolving Problems in Modern Medical Practice," "Conflict Resolution: Joint Pains A Prelude to Cardiac Disease?," "Dealing with the Difficult Child," "Allergic Rhinitis and Bronchial Asthma: How Much Do We Really Know?," "Blues and Blacks: When to Worry," "Newer Vaccines: How Cost Effective Are They?," "High Risk Neonate," "The Edematous Child," "Insights to the Fads and Trends of Adolescents in the 21st Century," "Dos and Donts in Pediatric Drowning and Near Drowning," "Bacterial Meningitis: the Perennial Menace," and "Enhancing Relationship Among Doctors."
There will also be a workshop on "Interpretation of Basic Diagnostic Tools" like chest X-ray, ECG, ABGs and CBC.
This will be followed by the 17th Florencio N. Quintos Memorial Lecture on Feb. 2 with Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, professor of the UP College of Medicine, as the memorial lecturer.
