Otolaryngology society girds for 50th annual convention

The Philippine Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (PSO-HNS) will hold its 50th annual convention on Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel.
The event will coincide with the International Hearing Societys 7th Hearing International Annual Meeting.
The PSO-HNS is working hand-in-hand with the International Hearing Society to bring this years theme of "Breaking Barriers: Working as Partners."
The conventions boast of several instructional courses, scientific symposia, plenary sessions and exhibits.
They also have a roster of impressive speakers, one of which is Dr. Suchitra Prasanuk, president of Hearing International.
Also gracing the event are Dr. Eugene Tardy (head and neck plastic reconstructive surgery,) Dr. Wolfgang Steiner (voice), Dr. Rudolf Hausler (otology), and Dr. Philip Newall (audiology), to name a few.
"The conference has taken a forward looking perspective in promoting synergistic collaboration with other disciplines, basic scientists, public health experts, general physicians, other health professionals, nurses, audiologists, and even educators and speech pathologists," said the Philippine organizing committee.
"We are confident that the joint staging will make significant contributions in strengthening the ties that bind the international medical community, especially in working for the hearing impaired," it added.
Aside from the conventions, there are also pre- and post-conference courses being offered by different medical institutions like Contemporary Management of Laryngeal, Oro-Pharyngeal and Swallowing Disorders (St. Lukes Medical Center,) Course on Temporal Bone Dissection (UP-Philippine General Hospital), Course on the Evaluation of Hearing and Balance Function (Center for Audiological Sciences, UST,) and the First Manila International Rhinoplasty Course (UP-Philippine General Hospital).
