Therapharma gives help to World Vision

Therapharma, a division of United Laboratories, recently celebrated the third anniversary of the launch of its brand of simvastatin by joining hands with World Vision, an international Christian organization that sends poor children to school.

John Dumpit, general manager of Therapharma, handed over a check worth P150,000 to broadcast journalist Karen Davila, a World Vision supporter and spokeswoman, representing the company’s donation to the organization’s child sponsorship program.

A week earlier, Therapharma donated another P150,000 during Vidastat’s celebration in Cebu City attended by doctors from the Visayas and Mindanao.

"This modest offering that Therapharma is making to the children under the care of World Vision is just a seed to start them on the road to a better, fuller life," Dumpit said during the anniversary celebration held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

"These children comprise the next generation. They are the ones who will see us through when we all turn old and gray," he added.

Davila lauded Therapharma’s initiative to bring about a brighter future to many of this country’s children.

"Therapharma does not only help patients lower their blood pressure and cholesterol but also many of our children who cannot go to school because of poverty. In this country, we need more companies like Therapharma," she said.

Also during the event, Dumpit reiterated Therapharma’s commitment to make available quality and affordable medicines under its pharmacoeconomics program.

"Our role in Therapharma is to help bring back the joy in patients’ eyes by enabling them to enjoy their precious moments with their loved ones and live normal lives because they get adequate protection from their diseases through quality and affordable medicines," he said. "This is what we call pharmacoeconomics in action."
