The STAR, writer win awards in S&T Week

The Philippine STAR and one of its science writers, Rudy A. Fernandez, bagged media awards during the recent National Science and Technology Week (July 8-12).
The STAR won the print media award in the institutional category. The other institutional awardees were Radyo ng Bayan (dzRB) and IBC-13.
Fernandez bagged the media award, print category, for popularizing science and technology "through relevant, timely and enterprising stories that consistently mirror the dynamic and trailblazing role of S&T in the Filipino peoples social and economic development mission."
Thor Orig of the Manila Bulletin received the DOST Hall of Fame award for having won the Outstanding DOST Media Award for Print thrice (1997, 2000 and 2001).
