Plasmalite technology now available in RP

A new era in therapy for sun-damaged and wrinkled skin, and even hair removal, has emerged with the introduction of the Plasmalite FPL Intense Pulse Light – the latest developed technology from Sweden that uses light pulses to effect treatment.

Unlike current treatment like dermabrasion, chemical peeling, collagen injection and CO2 laser skin resurfacing, Plasmalite FPL Intense Pulse Light offers a non-invasive and non-ablative method of therapy.

"Because it uses only light pulses, nothing virtually touches the skin, except for a sapphire crystal that is used for effective heat dispersal," explains Dr. Jose Oreta Jr., of the Oreta Medical Clinic, the exclusive distributor of Plasmalite FPL Intense Pulse Light in the Philippines.

Plasmalite works by using specially filtered light to raise the temperature of selected levels of the skin, depending on the kind of treatment a customer wants, promoting healing while the sapphire crystal allows for quick dissipation of the heat.

"What we are actually doing is accelerating the development of natural chemicals used by the skin to rejuvenate and remanufacture itself," says Oreta.

"With this non-invasive and non-ablative technique, there is virtually no downtime as the patient does not need any recovery period after the treatment. It is cost-effective because you can see immediate results," he adds.

Plasmalite uses a combination of special filters to target the melanin, hemoglobin and collagen, and this light pulse is further guided by the cooling effect of the sapphire crystal.

Studies have shown that by selective heating of the dermal collagen layer, the fibroblast cells are stimulated to produce new collagen fibers that effectively flatten wrinkles. This is part of the rejuvenation function of the machine.

Plasmalite FPL Intense Pulse Light is multi-functional. It can do permanent removal of unwanted hair, diminish the size of the pores and scars, remove or bleach hyper-pigmented and vascular lesions.

"This machine was invented in 1986 by Morgan Gustavson (Gustavson is a medical board topnotcher in Sweden) but was only put to use in 1991. It is only now that it is commercially utilized after so many trials and studies were conducted in the United States and Europe. It has been perfected to be a painless and effective machine," Oreta says.
