One of the first areas that benefited from the program was Barangay Queensrow in Molino, Bacoor, Cavite. Last Aug. 11, Magsaysay and his team, along with the Bayer Environmental Health Group headed by Jojo Dueñas, conducted fogging operations in the barangay. Bacoor Mayor Jessie Castillo was also on hand to witness the operations.
This joint outreach effort of Magsaysays office and Bayer Phils. is aimed at curbing the current onslaught of dengue fever through a Dengue Awareness and Prevention Program which integrates adult mosquito control through fogging operations using Bayers Solfac UL 015 thermal fogging concentrate, with an education campaign.
Fogging is the fastest and most effective method to significantly lower the adult mosquito population and prevent infection.
Elimination of mosquito-breeding sites through cleaning and sanitation, however, remains the most important measure to counter the spread of the dengue virus, and this is the content of the various information materials being given out by Bayer Phils., along with some posters and leaflets courtesy of the DOH.
The Stamp Out Dengue project is Magsaysays answer to the various requests for assistance from people in dengue-affected areas.
The urgent request of Benjie Sumadsad, president of the Homeowners Association of Casimiro Townhomes in Queensrow, Molino, Bacoor, was just one of the many requests the senator has heeded.
Areas needing help or wanting to learn more about dengue and its control can write the Environmental Health Group of Bayer Phils., 3F, Bayer House, Canlubang Industrial Estate, Calamba, Laguna 4028, or the Office of Sen. Magsaysay.
