Noble Place, Plaza Cervantes upgrade Megaworld starts major Binondo facelift
MANILA, Philippines - Leading property developer Megaworld Corp. is aiming to reinvent the old and traditional image of Manila’s Chinatown district of Binondo into a vibrant and modern business district by ushering in new upscale developments.
Among its first foray to revitalize the famed old Binondo are the posh five-level Lucky Chinatown Mall (the former site of Jose Abad Santos and Rajah Soliman High School) and the three-level Cityplace Square. Both commercial shopping centers house a wide variety of retail shops, themed restaurants, and state-of-the-art cinemas among others.
With its track record in building high-class townships, residential properties and lifestyle malls, Megaworld is also committed to preservation of national heritage sites. With this, the company is taking a proactive stance in the rehabilitation of Plaza Cervantes, a major street in Chinatown that serves as a gateway to the Binondo business district.
“We are committed to bring the old glory of Binondo with the restoration of their historical street. We will support the local government’s beautification and preservation efforts to rehabilitate this famous landmark that the old Chinatown of Manila is known for,†said Wilson Sy, head of sales and marketing of Megaworld’s Chinatown group.
He said the construction of Noble Place, Megaworld’s 47-story residential condominium project in Binondo, is also in full swing as the foundation of the structure has been completed.
Megaworld has commissioned the Yuchengco-owned EEI Corp., one of the country’s leading Triple A construction companies, to construct Noble Place within this year and to deliver the project by 2017.
“The project is on schedule. After the piling of foundation, the contractor is ready to start the construction of the residential tower,†Sy said.
Noble Place’s flood-free location, at the corner of Juan Luna and Dasmarinas streets, has rows of commercial and retail establishments, multinational companies, as well as medical and educational institutions surrounding it.
The residential tower’s eighth floor will house an exclusive amenity floor that includes an infinity pool and an indoor badminton court for the health buffs. It also has Tai Chi and picnic areas for those who simply want peaceful relaxation and a clubhouse and tent pavilion for hosting parties and gatherings.
At the topmost floor, residents will be able to experience a breathtaking view of the metropolis at its own sky garden.
