MANILA, Philippines - The country’s premier architect, William V. Coscolluela, has appointed his twin sons, Gil and Gary, as senior partners in their 55-year old firm WV Coscolluela & Associates.
“As their father and as founder of a firm that has been designing and building for over 50 years, I am especially proud to see them in these positions of leadership. They have both produced exceptional work as associate partners over the years. Now is the time for them to be in the center of our ongoing projects and help me carry them out,†the elder Coscolluela said.
While their father will remain as head of the architectural firm, which counts over 150 projects completed, the brothers will take on an increasingly larger role, particularly as the company moves towards the development of “greener†structures.
Gil, who graduated from the UP College of Architecture, handled works in RCBC Plaza, Equitable PCI Tower, Joya Lofts & Towers at Rockwell, Crowne Plaza and Galleria Regency. He is also involved in various Robinsons mall and residential projects.
Gary finished architecture from his father’s alma mater, the Mapua Institute of Technology. Among his projects were The Grand Midiori Makati, Landmark in Trinoma, Ansons Arcade, and Discovery Shores Boracay.
“My sons will be continuing the legacy of innovative design, good quality work, on-time and on-budget completion for our clients,†Coscolluella pointed out.
Coscolluela has built a reputation as the “architect to the taipans†as his firm has been involved in numerous projects of the SM Group of Henry Sy, John Gokongwei’s JG Summit Holdings, and the Filinvest Group of Andrew Gotianun, among others.
The firm’s advocacy towards more sustainable standards through green projects is reflected in recent works such as the Zuellig building in Makati, the country’s first and only Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified structure; the soon-to-launched Aura Civic Center in Bonifacio Global City; and the Unilab corporate headquarters in Mandaluyong.
“LEED certification has raised awareness about environmental sustainability. People have begun to realize that green architecture is real, and can be accomplished for any structure,†Coscolluela added.
