Eastwood City Cyberpark leader on three fronts, says PEZA
MANILA, Philippines - According to the latest data from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Eastwood City Cyberpark -- the Philippines’ first registered information technology (IT) park — has again garnered #1 status from all three key categories.
Located in Bagumbayan, Quezon City, the outshoring & offshoring (O&O) locators of Eastwood City Cyberpark registered US$486.29 million in export revenues for 2011, a huge 37.27 percent increase from the US$354.19 million in exports recorded in 2010. This meant Eastwood City Cyberpark is the #1 IT park nationwide, as the industry registered US$5.85 billion in exports.
Salaries and wages paid out to employees totaled P10.42 billion, a 31.4 percent increase from the P7.93 billion in payouts the previous year. Again, Eastwood City Cyberpark was #1 in this category.
With an average direct employment of 31,044 for the past year among its PEZA-registered locators, Eastwood City Cyberpark also garnered #1 status among all registered information technology (IT) parks and buildings nationwide. This is a 60 percent improvement from 2010 employment numbers.
But counting non-PEZA registered locators, such as banks, restaurants, shops and service-oriented companies in Eastwood City Cyberpark, the satellite city has provided jobs to more than 40,000 individuals. This was according to real estate giant Megaworld Corporation, the country’s #1 business process outsourcing (BPO) office landlord and developer of Eastwood City Cyberpark.
Eastwood City Cyberpark counts a prestigious list of tenant-locators among the global business process outsourcing (BPO) industry. These include Citibank, IBM, Stream, Siemens, Dell, Astec-Emerson, Sitel, Concentrix, WNS and Accenture.
“We are proud that the country’s first IT park has again achieved #1 status in three key PEZA categories. We are also delighted that the employment and salary figures of Eastwood City Cyberpark have made an impact on the lives of tens of thousands of individuals and their families,” Megaworld FVP for Business Develoment Jericho Go stated.
“Going forward, considering the significant improvement in export revenues for 2011, we are extremely confident that Eastwood City Cyberpark will register, for the first time ever, over US$500 million in revenues this 2012. This will be a significant milestone for the BPO industry, as the Philippines targets US$11 billion in export revenues for the year.”
He also announced that Megaworld is on track to deliver this May Eastwood City Cyberpark’s 11th BPO building, TechnoPlaza Two, across Eastwood Mall. With new locators and tenants in expansion mode expected to take up this seven-storey building, Go said this will help the IT park meet its export targets.
