MANILA, Philippines - Thirty-year-old Carlo Contis, a senior manager at a leading BPO firm, is a self-confessed “Mandaluyong boy.” Having grown up within the vibrant city with his family since 1984, Carlo is used to the convenience of its location in the middle of the metro, along with other urban comforts that Mandaluyong offers. It is also located near his Makati office, so commuting and driving to and from his place of work is an ideal advantage to his urban lifestyle.
So when the time came for him to look for a first home for his own family, it was important to get an address within the city where he grew up in. Going around Mandaluyong one day, he chanced upon a project called Tivoli Gardens Residences that was being developed by DMCI Homes.
“Me and my wife Rosali were looking for a place within a familiar environment where we could raise our family. That was around four years ago, and a year into our marriage when I first drove by Tivoli Gardens, which was just in its early development stage. It is something positive for us since in a monetary perspective, medyo kaya ng bulsa with its pre-selling price,” Carlo related.
He also noted that they were lucky to get a 3-bedroom unit with gross floor area of 79.0 sqm that was right next to the elevators and across the central landscaped atrium. A few steps away also beckoned the Sky Patio – Tivoli Gardens ’ signature 3-storey high openings on the building that allowed the maximum entry of light and air through the Lumiventt technology.
While waiting for the construction of their first home in the development’s second building, Eugenia, the young couple rented a condo in Pasay in the interim. The small space and unfamiliar environment made Carlo more convinced that he preferred to raise his young family in the residential resort-like setting offered by Tivoli Gardens in Mandaluyong City.
“I visited the site a lot to monitor the construction. And during instances when I couldn’t, I just logged on to the DMCI Homes website to check the progress reports. That was very convenient for us, and made us all more excited to see the community gradually taking shape,” he noted.
Finally in March last year, they were given a call by DMCI Homes informing them that their unit was ready for turnover. That was a pleasant surprise for the couple, since they were not expecting the building completion until the fourth quarter of 2010. The young family, by then joined by four-year-old daughter Zaira, was very excited to move in ahead of schedule, and enjoy the perks of their first home. The Contis family was one of the first residents to move in at Eugenia.
