Crimson Resort launches the Aum Spa

MANILA, Philippines - Crimson Resort and Spa, one of the newest destination resorts in the island of Mactan, Cebu, has become not only a place for relaxation but also for wellness with the opening of the Aum Spa, which blends the very best of the East and West.

According to Karen Neff, spa consultant, what makes Aum Spa different is that it not only focuses on relaxation but also on the wellness of its guests. The word “aum” is from the Hindu word for meditation. Neff’s expertise is also behind the successful Mandala Spa in Boracay Island.

Aum Spa is nestled inside Crimson Resort and Spa, which in turn is part of Seascapes Resort Town,both of which are projects of Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC). The Crimson hotel is unique among Cebu Resorts in its Balinese inspired architecture for its 250 world class suites and rooms, 40 villas with 38 private pools, among other features.

In an interview with the STAR, FDC Hotel Division assistant vice-president Francis Gotianun said that Crimson Resort and Spa is being managed by FilArchipelago, a joint venture undertaking between FDC and Archipelago International Pte Ltd., a hospitality management group registered in Singapore. Archipelago in turn is part of Aston International, Indonesia’s leading international hotel and resort management group.

Aum Spa is also the first to bring to Cebu the watsu massage, a soothing type of massage that takes place in warm, waist-deep water. Aside from watsu, Aum offers deep tissue massage with hot stone therapy, the traditional hilot massage, the tension relief massage.

Aum Spa allows guest to enjoy its signature massages with a world-class setting by leading international resort designer WATG. The pavilion has 16 treatment rooms and massage cabanas and its own private spa pool. Double treatment rooms with a joint egg shape bathtub set in a garden setting offer a unique experience for couples.

Gotianun explained that the Crimson will benefit not only from the experience of the Filinvest Group, which is behind notable leisure projects like Timberland Sports and Nature Club in San Mateo and The Palms Country Club in Filinvest, Alabang, but also from Aston’s experience in the management and operation of resorts in Southeast Asia.

Gotianun also revealed that Crimson is just the start for FDC with a number of hotel and resort projects lined up for the company.

“F ilArchipelago will also be managing the three-star businessman’s hotel currently being constructed by Filinvest Land Inc. in Cebu, and the Crimson Hotel in Filinvest Alabang within the Entrata Complex by 2012. The choice of Cebu as its maiden project is not only because we (the Gotianuns) are from Cebu and therefore we know it very well, but also because we are aware of its huge tourism potential,” he told the STAR.
