Coming home to resplendent nature

-

MANILA, Philippines – After years of living abroad, one couple finds home at this sanctuary for daily living

Resplendent 360º views—this is what Ayala Greenfield Estates has become known for over the years. Manila’s sparkling skyline, Tagaytay’s renowned ridge, Mt. Makiling’s majesty, Laguna de Bay’s calming waters and the surrounding plains have made this esteemed community a favorite among homeowners looking for a peaceful retreat away from the city.

Beyond the views and the nature that surrounds the 350-hectare community are the homeowners who have gradually been settling down, creating ties and building a family-friendly neigborhood within the development. All of them hold unique stories that talk about how their new homes have slowly transformed into their own private sanctuaries, within Ayala Greenfield Estates.

Over 10 years ago, Romel and Lichelle Carlos left the Philippines to pursue careers in Thailand. “I used to come home every now and then, as part of my job – and during these visits, I saw an ad of Ayala Greenfield Estates in the newspaper and I asked one of our country representatives to check it out,” says Romel, who was working with the European Commission then.

In 2006, he had spotted an ad in the papers for a nature-inspired development – a place close to him and his wife, who had both attended college at UP Los Baños. “I had to come home for a holiday, we passed by Ayala Greenfield Estates and it captured my attention immediately,” he continues. “I called my wife and asked if I could borrow some money so we could make the downpayment, right then and there.”

Romel found a property specialist and negotiations were taken care of over the phone. The next thing he and wife Lichelle knew, they were headed back to the Philippines. “Every day we were in Thailand, we knew we wanted to come back home,” she explains. “The intention though, was to move back at a later time – maybe even move to Davao,” says Lichelle, who is originally from the south. “We pictured settling in a place similar to AGE – something with a farm, and a golf course where I could play,” adds Romel.
