Environmentalism: Fad or for good?
MANILA, Philippines - Is “going green”about to go away soon?
In the country, people are realizing their responsibility to solve the ecological crisis – such as in Treveia, Alveo Land’s community in the rising development of Nuvali, where measures have been undertaken to care for the environment.
But some remain skeptical about the growing concern for the environment . A few scientists and journalists argue that there’s no reason to panic about greenhouse gas emissions as a cause for massive global warming. They believe that the hype will eventually die down, as it does not have any immediate, tangible effect on people’s daily lives.
However, despite the minority of skeptics, experts from the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, American Meteorological Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Geophysical Union are unanimous that the rise of global temperature is caused by human’s irresponsibility towards the environment. This makes eco-consciousness and eco-developments all the more important now.
“Apart from addressing the need of its residents, Treveia is designed to adhere to the tenets of sustainability as championed by the whole Nuvali development,” notes Jennylle Tupaz, Alveo Land’s project development group head. “Green principles are present in different facets of the development, making it a community that pioneers eco-friendliness among other residential communities.”
