MANILA, Philippines - The more convenient and safer piped-in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) system is one of the ultra-modern facilities in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) that help makes the city work.
Residents and business operators, especially restaurant owners, in most of the buildings in BGC do not purchase the cylindrical, heavy, and bulky LPG tanks because LPG is distributed via state-of-the-art underground piping system.
They do not have to order in LPG tanks and make cash readily available because the system ensures a steady and constant supply of LPG and the consumption is metered and billed monthly. More importantly, the dangers of leaking regulators and tanks are eliminated. In terms of savings, piped-in LPG costs 40% less than electricity. Maximizing open area too is helped because there is no need to apportion space for bulky and unsightly tanks.
Some building owners in BGC have also begun using LPG to power their air-conditioning systems, enabling them to save on their electricity bills. They are now not affected by power service interruptions. They no longer have to use generators during power outages. Soon to operate are the landmark buildings in BGC which will also use the piped-in LPG to run their boilers.
It is a known fact that LPG is cleaner than gasoline, thus the popularity of LPG among environmentalists to convert the gasoline-driven automobiles.
Additional safety feature as well is in the very nature of the chemical. As soon as the petroleum is released from the depot, it turns into gas vapor. Hence the pipes that run underground and between walls of buildings contains only vapor.
