A peak into kid architecture

-

MANILA, Philippines - Many think design and aesthetics applied only to chic, classy apartments and commercial buildings—but almost never associated with kids and toys.

But through the genius of design partners Christian Guerrero and J. Antonio Nazareno of Nazareno + Guerrero Design Consultancy, kids now have a toy village that was designed with specifically with them in mind.

“In our two decades in the business, it was our first time to work on a toy store. It was challenging but it was manageable because the owners, Natalie and Custer Tanchip, had a clear idea of what they want,” says Nazareno, one of two people responsible for the design concept of Pocketful of Kids, the very first interactive toy village in the Philippines.

This hands-on playground was inspired from Natalie Tanchip’s lifelong dream of providing a fun learning experience for children. Consequently, Pocketful of Kids innovates not only through toys that can stimulate their motor and cognitive skills, but also by creating a child-friendly environment that encourages free play. This is where design innovation comes in, led by Guerrero and Nazareno.

“We wanted it to not feel like any other store that’s why the features were made three dimensional to make it really look like a village, with all the houses and buildings,” explains Nazareno. “And as you can see, there are really no boring parallel lines. Everything is flowing and moving.”

Pocketful of Kids is the very first interactive toy village in the country that carries popular American and European toy brands that encourage children to wonder, discover and learn through play.
