Fuji Xerox is committed to contribute to the progress of society by innovating, sending positive messages to the community, creating social values and playing a social responsible goal as an organization and as individuals. Recently, FXP engaged in a partnership with the Gawad Kalinga (GK) to contribute to a very worthy cause.
FXP shares GKs vision of a new Philippines: a slum-free country where the citizens live in a comfortable and peaceful state of life. Gawad Kalinga is a Philippine-based movement that envisions building 700,000 homes in 7,000 communities in seven years through its GK 777 campaign with 2010 as the target date for delivery. Together with its partners, Gawad Kalinga is in the process of transforming poverty-stricken areas thus empowering the citizens to strive for an improved quality of life.
A community in Pinagsama Village in Western Bicutan will be converted into the Fuji Xerox Village. Some 58 families will have their homes renovated with FXP and its partners Poveda and Rotary Club of Makati West, shouldering the expenses and lending volunteers for the effort. FXPs initial commitment which was approved by the foundation board is to support the building of 20 houses, a total value of about two million. FXP is looking forward to expanding its assistance more in the future. Aside from these initial commitments, FXP also donated a multi-purpose building to be used by the villagers.
In the recently concluded ground breaking ceremony for the project, many sectors expressed gratitude for FXPs involvement in providing a better future for the citizens of Pinagsama Village.
Taguig City Mayor Freddie Tinga stated that the multi-sectoral partnership saw representatives from various sectors working together for a common cause. The "bayanihan" spirit shared by FXP and the residents of Pinagsama will hasten the development of the area into a peaceful and productive community. "Let us all unite and help each other in building a better society" he further stated.
