The move is a means to redefine condominium living for those Metro Manilans who continue to clamor for features more closely associated with single-detached dwellings. The firm tapped ABI, known for its contemporary palettes, to give prospective buyers a good idea of how loft spaces can be transformed into attractive and homey spaces for the bachelor as well as a young family.
For the one-bedroom loft unit at the Avida New Manila showroom, a contemporary look most likely to be preferred by the upwardly mobile professional focused on brick walls, a steel table with metallic finish, checkered plated flooring and warm colors, and other industrial elements. To show the versatility of the unit, a mountain bike and a waveboard were incorporated into the interiors.
A second model unit with two bedrooms was envisioned for a family and is fitted with furniture pieces that each have multiple functions. A glass center table doubles as dining space, while the ottomans also serve as seats for the diners. Mirrors are also used extensively to create the illusion of space. In this unit, the loft is used as a master’s bedroom.
Whatever the unit owner chooses to do with the loft, ABI suggests that the space be left open rather than walled off. Another option is to use transparent instead of solid railing. The idea is to keep the area open and to maintain the unit’s over all airy feeling. To further sustain one’s sense of spaciousness, windows can be covered with sheer — rather than heavy curtain materials. This move also lets the light in freely.
Avida officials believes that the versatility of lofts has made it a standard feature of most quality developments. The loft unit is definitely here to stay.
