Window fashions for all seasons

When it comes to window fashions, there are three important things to look out for: strength, durability, and style – qualities that are relevant in whatever season.

That’s because whether the weather calls for something that would protect your home from the harsh glare of the sun or the turbulence of storms or just simply brighten the ambiance in one room or town down the mood in another – the right window fashions can do that.

And for decades, discriminate homeowners and interior designers have look to Hunter Douglas to address their window fashion needs.

The company, after all, is the pioneer behind many of today’s most popular window fashions. Take, for example, the popular honeycomb design that it introduced in its Duette shades collection. Distinguished by a crisp and clean style, the honeycomb construction help "trap" air, making them highly energy efficient.

In the 1940s, Hunter Douglas introduced the first aluminum Venetian blinds, a product that has been remade over and over throughout the decades.

The strength of a product largely depends on the material it is made of and that is something that Hunter Douglas always takes into consideration.

Its wood blinds and shutter collection, for instance, are made from 100 percent natural, genuine American hardwood, making it strong and long lasting.

The same thing goes its other products like its Silhouette window shadings, which provided an unexpected protection for Florida residents Ann and Greg Scotten when Hurricane Charley hit the United States in 2004.

In an interview published in Hunter Douglas’ website (www.hunterdouglas.com), the Scottens revealed how their window shadings protected the items inside their bedroom.

"The shadings, which suspend fabric vanes between two sheer fabric facings, shielded objects in the room – lamps, pictures and furniture – from flying debris," says the Scottens.

The strength of Hunter Douglas’ products is especially beneficial to structures in tropical countries like the Philippines.

Its wood blinds are finished with an exclusive coating for greater durability; its alternative blinds are extra-resistant to fading and cracking; and its aluminum blinds are resilient to warping.
