Roberto Alvarez Jr., a housing and property industry and civic leader, is the new president of the CREBA Social Housing Foundation Inc., the social arm of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (CREBA). Alvarez, along with CSHFI chairperson Rosemarie Basa, other officers and board members, were formally inducted by Atty. Federico F.S. Quimbo, president-CEO of Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) last Thursday at the Manila Polo Club coinciding with the CREBA 4th business monthly meeting.
Alvarez is president of Servequest Inc., president-CEO, RPA Services Corp.; chairman, Filmar Realty Corp.; managing director, MMS Land & Property Corp.; director, Smokey Mountain Foundation Inc and Philippine Jaycees Foundation; senator, Junior Chamber International (JCI); former national president and other positions, Philippine Jaycees Inc., and founding president, former treasurer and director, and currently secretary, The Outstanding Young Men Foundation Inc.
Alvarez earned his bachelor of arts major in economics, history and political science from De la Salle University, Manila.
Basa, also as CSHFI chairperson and CREBA executive vice-president in 2005, spearheaded a special executive committee of industry "movers and shakers" to stage the CREBA Housing Expo at the World Trade Center that year. Coinciding with the expo was a housing conference on the theme "100 Bahay Bawat Lunsod, Munisipyo at Pribadong Sektor" at the Philippine Trade Center to prod local government to start building housing projects for their constituents. It was co-sponsored with the Department of Interior and Local Government and HUDCC. CREBA conducted regional seminars for LGUs to appraise them of opportunities in providing housing projects to be financed by Pag-IBIG Fund and other government financial institutions.
