Megaworld scored high in several poll categories. It was voted one of the top two property players in the region, after SP Setia of Malaysia.
Megaworld also ranked prominently among Asian companies with the "most convincing and coherent strategy." It was second only to the Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Company among Philippine firms.
Megaworld also joined Banco de Oro and ABS-CBN among Asia's "most improved" companies.
Market analysts at major banks and research institutes in the region took part in the Euromoney survey. They rated 368 companies from various industries in the Philippines, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
Megaworld ranked well based on market strength, profitability, growth potential and quality of management and earnings.
Euromoney noted that the year 2005 saw Megaworld "continue its track record as a premier developer of large-scale real estate projects that cater to all needs." Its performance last year showed the "success of Megaworld's efforts in feeding the growing appetite in the Philippines for mixed-use property developments."
Last year, Megaworld launched Forbeswood Parklane, its ninth residential condominium tower at the five-hectare Forbes Town Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It also topped off 1800 Eastwood Avenue, the 10-story, 33,300-square-meter first phase of a new office building at the Eastwood City CyberPark targeted to the business process outsourcing sector.
Megaworld's latest recognition from Euromoney follows earlier awards from the same publication. It was voted among Asia's best property companies in 2003 and again in 2004. Also in 2003, Megaworld was voted the best Philippine company in Euromoney's corporate governance survey of emerging markets.
