British officials cite innovative LPHI homes

-
British Ambassador Paul Dimond recently visited key projects of Laguna Properties Holdings Inc. (LPHI) which make use of an innovative building system conceptualized in Britain. The Tex building system was recently given recognition by the National Housing Authority for improving quality and efficiencies in construction. It is used extensively in LPHI housing projects including Sta. Catalina Homes in Bacoor, Cavite and Riego de Dios in Tanza, Cavite.

Manuel J. Colayco, LPHI president, accompanied Ambassador Dimond and Eamonn Staunton, first secretary of the British Embassy overseeing trade and investment, to both sites.

Sta. Catalina Homes is a 41.5-hectare development with house-and-lot packages that has been selling briskly — 800 units in 17 months. Available lots range from 125 to 150 sqm. and homes are from 33 to 97 sqm. The first housing project envisioned for soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and their families, Riego de Dios is a 22-hectare development with 987 units ranging from 42 to 80 sqm. in floor area in a variety of models.

Colayco observed that the Tex system has been a key factor in LPHI’s growth. The company has built over 4,000 units using Tex and has since expanded its reach to 11 locations around the country serving various niches of the middle-income sector.
