Low-end developer bags award

-
In recognition of its efforts towards helping the government carry out the goals of providing decent and affordable shelter, Hausland Assets & Realty (HLAR) received the "Developer of the Year" award jointly from the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and the Home Development Fund during the first "Kabalikat sa Pabahay Awards 2003."

President Arroyo handed out the awards in a ceremony held recently at Malacañang. Pag-IBIG Fund on the same occasion also conferred HLAR the "Outstanding Developer in Luzon" award.

On receiving the award, Wilfredo M. Tan, general manager of the company and national president of the Organization of Socialized Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP), and an active member of CREBA and SHDA, credited the government’s resolve to provide the housing sector an attractive policy environment for which to deliver housing, particularly to those who can afford less.

"It is our outlook to give homebuyers value for their money. Haus-Land ensures that in every housing development, the best home package and environment would be home to the new community we build," says Tan.

He also cited that President Arroyo’s fortitude to give housing a high priority, helped much to provide impetus to the long-beleaguered industry. He added that it was Mrs. Arroyo's determination to make housing accessible to as many that saw the decrease in the homelending interest rates. Housing Sec. Michael T. Defensor, Tan also pointed out, has paved the way for a more workable government-private sector relations towards achieving the common goals in providing housing.
