SM City Baguio, the 16th SM Supermall, will be open to the public on Friday, Nov. 21, 2003.
Strategically located on a 79,763 square meter property at the site of the former Pines Hotel in Session Road, it is within a stroll from some of the citys most popular destinations: the central market, Burnham Park, Sunshine Park, and the City Hall.
Because of its scenic mountainous terrain, cool climate, breathtaking natural beauty and palm trees, Baguio is known as the summer capital of the Philippines. Over a million tourists visit Baguio each year; and apart from tourism, commercial activities and retail services drive the local economy. The supermall will serve customers in Baguio, and in the northern Luzon area as well.
SM City Baguio will have 106,231 square meters, and six levels of great shopping, leisure, and entertainment.
Designed to capture the breathtaking beauty of the city of pines, SM City Baguios construction team includes Design International, a foreign design consultant for the mall; Jose Siao Ling and Associates, architects; New Golden City, general contractors; and DA Abcede and Associates, project manager.
Both Baguio residents and tourists can look forward to shopping at the SM Department Store, the trendsetter and innovator that has become part of the lives of many Filipinos; and the SM Supermarket, which combines exciting merchandise concepts with the latest supermarketing technology. The supermall will have SM mainstays like the SM Appliance Center, ACE Hardware, Watsons, Our Home, Sports Central, Surplus Shop, and Toy Kingdom, as well as fashion boutiques, jewelry and home stores, novelty shops, and service outlets. It will have computer and telecom stores for the cyber generation.
Eating out options include good food... fast at the SM Food Court, as well as an exciting mix of international food chains like Pizza Hut, Wendys KFC, and Shakeys; local food chains like Jollibee, Chowking, Goldilocks, Greenwich, as well as cool restos like Tokyo Tokyo, Kitaro, Teriyaki Boy. Homegrown tenants from Baguio like Don Henricos Carloss Pizza are also expected to open later.
The mall will also have four state of the art cinemas with a total seating capacity of 2,656, as well as amusement centers. In a city where parking space is precious, SM City Baguio will have 800 parking slots.
