CeMAP member companies recently signed the Memorandum of Agreement with the NHA and the 8000 foundation, for the donation of the 10,000 bags of cement for the construction of much needed infrastructure at the Baseco compound.
Last year, the Manila City Council placed Baseco in a state of calamity after two files razed the shanties of over 4,000 families, leaving some 10,000-plus people homeless. The damage was placed at more than P15 million.
CeMAPs cement donation will be used by the NHA for its various housing projects, and of chief priority will be the construction of infrastructures in the Baseco compound. According to Guillermo Godoy, OIC General Services Department of the NHA, 10,000 bags of cement is enough to provide the community much needed infrastructure in the form of drainages, septic tanks, and water tanks.
"We are happy to be of assistance to the NHA as it has always been our thrust to assist in community building and nation building. Everyone deserves to have a home to call his own, and knowing we had a hand in helping the Baseco fire victims is very gratifying," CeMAP president Felix Enrico Alfiler.
"Nagpapasalamat po kami sa mga miyembro ng CeMAP. Tunay na napakalaking tulong po nitong donasyon sa aming barangay," (We would like to thank all the members of CeMAP. This donation is truly a big help for the Baseco Community) said Chairwoman Teresita Lumactud, Barangay Captain of Baseco.
The 10,000 bags of cement came from the various member companies of CeMAP which include ACC, Apo, Fortune, FR Cement, Continental, Iligan, Republic, Solid, and Union Cement Corp.
