DHL Worldwide expands network

-
DHL, the world’s leading international air express company, recently announced the expansion of its Philippine network with the inauguration of the DHL North Service center in Timog, Quezon City.

The establishment of the DHL North Service Center is part of DHL Worldwide Express Philippines’ $15-million investment to enhance local operations and provide superior express delivery services to a greater number of Filipinos nationwide. The new facility is expected to greatly enhance DHL’s service levels in the country by providing an increased number of access points to more Filipinos, particularly those situated in northern Manila areas.

The establishment of the DHL Service Center in Quezon City enables DHL to meet Filipinos’ growing demand for world-class international air express shipment services in a district fast-becoming a key financial, commercial and industrial center in the country. More importantly, DHL now plays a part in Quezon City’s developments as it services the international air express requirements of the country’s leading finance firms, garment factories, equipment manufacturers and broadcast media giants by facilitating the transport and delivery of goods in Quezon City’s bustling business community.

According to Charles Brewer, country manager for DHL Worldwide Express Philippines. "The establishment of DHL’s North Service Center is part of our on-going efforts to demonstrate the company’s strong commitment to the Philippine market through the continuing enhancement of our network and service capabilities in the country," Brewer adds, "Northern Manila is an important location to DHL Worldwide Express and as the city continues to attract more investments, our ability to provide our consumers in this part of the country with fast and efficient express logistics service will play a key role in the city’s growth and realization of its development goals."

The 1,500-square meter Service Center acts as a consolidation point where shipments are collected from various key areas covering Quezon City, Navotas, Caloocan City, Caloocan North, Valenzuela and Malabon, then processed and routed to the DHL Gateway in NAIA where they are accurately dispatched to the designated recipients around the world. The DHL North Service Center is also the site where packages are accurately sorted for immediate delivery to various destinations in northern Manila. The presence of DHL in the North further improves pick-up and delivery transit times, assuring DHL customers that packages arrive safely, securely and on time.

"As one of the world’s most global companies, DHL is in the business of bringing the world closer to our customers. Being in Quezon City makes us even closer to our customers in the north, who now have a DHL access point in close proximity for their every international air express shipping needs," said Brad Harris, national operations manager for DHL Worldwide Express Philippines. "The DHL North Service Center also contributes greatly to our global shipping operations as a critical ‘spoke’ in the worldwide DHL network wheel. Its addition to the Philippine network will greatly enhance our distribution process, ultimately resulting in a more streamlined ground operations."

DHL Worldwide Express currently operates four service centers in the country and will open an additional service center in Old Manila within the year. Since January 2002, DHL Worldwide Express has already invested in a fleet of new vehicles, a new country office and a state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure. Plans are also underway for the refurbishment of DHL’s gateway facility in NAIA.

DHL Worldwide Express is the global market leader of the international air express industry. An established innovator since pioneering the industry in 1969, DHL continues to be at the forefront of technology, offering fast, responsive, and cost-effective, express deliveries in addition to e-commerce fulfillment and intelligent logistics solutions.

The DHL network links over 120,000 destinations in more than 220 countries and territories, and employs 71,000 people. DHL is majority owned by Deutsche Post World Net.
