Troussaeu, a lifestyle store, demonstrated the art of styling at the Vivant Flats model unit located at Festival Mall, Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang.
Aya Perez, Trousseaus manager and an interior designer by profession, saw the potential of transforming the ambience of Vivant Flats living, dining and bedrooms by introducing decorative accents.
Her creative demo started in the living room. The white upholstered sofa was a perfect backdrop on which to prop up Oriental-themed silk pillows. With rich colors and prints splashed against a plain white background, the transformation was dramatic and instant.
Nowadays, one can get interesting pillow accents from lifestyle stores as Trousseau. They work wonders, especially if the aim is to give a couch, an accent chair or even the floor a new design lift.
On the coffee table, Aya made a centerpiece of candles arranged in a bamboo tray. Aside from giving the room a relaxing scent, it created a softly elegant touch to the room.
Layout and design of fashionable residences such as Vivant Flats take into consideration the taste preferences of the people who will eventually reside in the one-bedroom or two-bedroom options.
"There is a lot of flexibility that a flat owner can work with in this type of arrangement. With non-obstrusive or defined interior design elements, it is easy to do an overnight face lift. Just see how the living room look assumed a very Oriental theme, just by adding decorative pillows and black bamboo accessories. Months from now, when the "lady" of the house" feels she wants another change, she can do so. A modern contemporary look can replace the Oriental motif, once again, with simple accessorization," adds Aya.
In the dining area, Aya did an elegant setting, relying on beautiful China and silverware to serve as accents. "Since the dining area has a design relationship with the living room, the table setting theme should be done in synergy with the living rooms motif," adds Aya.
On to the bedroom, Aya discovered so many design opportunities. On the headboard, a shelf provides a place to put plants, artifacts or a collection of photo frames. "Any thing you already have stored away may become useful when doing some creative decorating," suggests Aya.
"You would spend just a little over, P5,000 to achieve an inspiring new look for your flat. Isnt that wonderful? I know I would probably redecorate every three to five months if thats all it would cost."
